Biography and Firm History:
Born in El Paso, Texas, Dan Krieger attended Cathedral High School and is fluent in Spanish. He began his professional career as a paramedic in El Paso before moving to Galveston Island. While serving as a Paramedic/Team Captain for Galveston EMS, Mr. Krieger completed his education at the Galveston College Police Academy, where he excelled and served as President of his academy class. Subsequently, he was hired by the League City Police Department.
During his tenure in law enforcement, Mr. Krieger demonstrated exemplary performance, serving in various roles within the police department, including the patrol division, marine division, and SWAT. Promoted to Sergeant, he became a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division, overseeing investigations ranging from theft to capital murder. Recognizing his exceptional skills, Mr. Krieger was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the newly-formed Office of Professional Standards (Internal Affairs).
Continuing his education, Dan pursued a bachelor's degree in criminal justice at the University of Houston - Downtown, graduating cum laude. He then attended the University of Houston Law Center, where he was selected for the Law Center's esteemed mock trial team. Arguing cases nationwide against top oral advocacy programs, Mr. Krieger received numerous awards and earned membership in the Order of the Barristers.
Former Prosecutor and Established Litigator:
Following his graduation, Dan Krieger joined the Harris County District Attorney's Office as a prosecutor. This experience honed his trial skills, enabling him to handle cases in some of Texas' busiest courts. In 2009, he embarked on his solo practice, opening his first office in League City, Texas. Mentored by Greg Cagle and Kathleen McCumber, he focused on criminal law, DWI defense, and family law.
In 2014, Dan expanded his practice, establishing a second office in Houston, Texas, dedicated to family law cases under the guidance of Kathy Ongert. After Mrs. Ongert's retirement, Dan formed a partnership with Christina Tillinger, an accomplished family attorney and longtime respected adversary. Together, they established Krieger & Tillinger, P.C., in 2017, focusing on criminal and family law litigation in Galveston, Harris, Brazoria, and surrounding counties.
